55th Panzer Division was formed in March 1941, on the basis of 31 separate light tank brigades, as part of the 25th Mechanized Corps, in the Kharkov Military District . Before the war, it was stationed in the city of Chuguev . In the period from 06/28. until 06/29. 1941, plunging into the station Chuguev went to the front. 07/01/1941, the division was unloaded at Bobrik station, which is fifty kilometers north of Kiev , where it became part of the 19th Army of the Southwestern Front , having received orders to concentrate in the forest, near the village of Rozhevka , but on 03/03/1941 the division was again loaded on trains and sent to the Western Front in the Gomel region. Unloading at the Novozybkovka station, it was placed at the disposal of the commander of the 21st Army . It was disbanded in August 1941.
