The Great Victory Crown ( Thai. พระ มหา พิชัย มงกุฎ ) is one of the royal regalia of Thailand . Made during the reign of King Rama I , in 1782. The crown is made of gold , is 26 inches (66 cm) tall and weighs 16 pounds (7.3 kg). During his reign (1851–1868), King Rama IV ordered the crown to be decorated with a large diamond from India, which was called the “Great Diamond” ( Thai. พระ มหา วิเชียร มณี ). The crown is made in the characteristic Thai style, in the form of a multi-tiered conical tiara topped with a spire. The spire symbolizes the divine power of the king and his right to rule the people of Thailand.
The king of Thailand puts on this crown only during the coronation ceremony [1] . It was last worn by Maha Wachiralongkorn (Rama X) during her coronation on May 6, 2019.
