History
Following Johnson's previous album, The Dollar (2006), the musician recorded songs for other singers, including country hits No. 1, such as Give It Away ( George Strait ) and Ladies , due to the loss of the previous BNA Records label [5]. Love Country Boys "( Trace Adkins ). In April 2007, he returned to recording studio material for the new album, not yet having a contract with major labels [6] .
That Lonesome Song debuted at No. 6 in the American Top Country Albums charts . The circulation of the album was 620,000 copies by November 2009 [7] and received platinum status from the RIAA .
The album received positive reviews from music critics and online publications: Allmusic [1] , Country Standard Time [2] , Country Weekly [3] , Engine 145 [4] . The song "High Cost of Living" was included on Rolling Stone Magazine 's 2008 List of Best Songs at number 38 (100 Best Songs of 2008). [8] . Rhapsody (online music service) named the disc the fifth best country album in its list of the decade (No. 5 in Country's Best Albums of the Decade) [9] . Engine 145 named the disc the best country album of the decade. [10] Country Music Television also named the disc one of the best of the decade ("A Dozen Favorite Country Albums of the Decade") [11] .
