Friedrich Karl Katte ( German: Friedrich Karl von Katte ; 1772 - 1836 ) - German politician .
He participated in campaigns against France in 1792-1795 and was captured by the French in 1806 . After being released from captivity, the thought came to him with a bold, unexpected step to throw off the French yoke. With a handful of peasants, he almost took Magdeburg ( 1809 ), but treason upset his plan. He later participated in Austrian service in the battles of Wagram and Aspern ; in the campaigns of 1813 - 1815 he fought in the Prussian troops.
