History
The group was created in early 1998 by BOW (Raymond Ebanks) and DJ Gismo (Ismo Lappalainen). The debut single “Uprocking Beats” was often played on radio charts, and the group managed to get a contract with Sony Music to release the album In Stereo .
The song “Freestyler” from this album in 2000 won the first positions in almost all MTV dance radio charts and charts , where a video clip was shown. The band received the MTV Award “Best Scandinavian Artist” in the same year.
The second album, Burnin 'Sneakers , was released in 2002, followed by the singles "Live Your Life" featuring Max'C and "Something Goin' On" with singer Jessica Falker . The album was not as successful outside Finland as the previous one.
In 2004, Bomfunk switched to Universal Music , which released the album Reverse Psychology . For the singles "No Way in Hell" and "Hypnotic" with singer Elena Madi, video clips broadcast on MTV were shot.
In 2005, Bomfunk MC arranged a tour in support of their Reverse Psychology album in New Zealand, performing in Dunedin, Christchurch, Wellington, Hamilton and Auckland.
From the moment of cessation of activity to the announcement of returning to the stage, the group as a whole was not known, only that DJ Infekto and Vile Makinen were separate rabbis as DJs called “Bomfunk DJ's”, and BOW managed to work on a new album with the group Mighty 44 and released a single with the band "Uptown Rockers", called "Everybody Dance".
At the end of November 2018, a tour of five concerts at festivals in Finland was announced. The lineup of BOW, DJ Gismo and JS16 gathered in honor of the band's twentieth anniversary. [one]
In February 2019, 20 years later, a new version of the video for the song Freestyler was released with the participation of the main group. March 27, 2019, confirmed the work on the new album. [2]
