Description
Propodeum with long epinotic spines. Small ants (workers have a length of about 4 mm, the uterus is larger). The propodeal spines on the posterior chest are developed. Antennae 11-segmented. The head is sub-square. The stalk between the breast and the abdomen consists of two segments: the petiolus and the postpetiolus (the latter is clearly separated from the abdomen), the sting is developed, the pupae are bare (without cocoon). Characterized by the ability to recline the abdomen on the back when spraying scare substances. The taxon was first described as a subspecies in 1879 by the Austrian entomologist Gustav Mayr based on materials from Burma [1] [9] . Sexual individuals (females and males) were described in 1913 [10] .
On the island of Taiwan , myrmecophilous relationships with dove moths, Catapaecilma major moltrechti (Wileman) ( Lepidoptera : Lycaenidae ), have been found. Their caterpillars are not only phytophages of plant material in anthills, but also predators on scale insects bred by ants [11] .
In Thailand (Tarutao National Park, Satun Province), C. rogenhoferi tree nests were located in tree branches ( Vitex pinnata L. , Oleasalicifolia Wall , Syzygium gratum (Wight) , Ardisia elliptica Thum ) at heights from 248 to 469 cm. Anthills contain the average in each nest is 1.53 ± 0.38 queens, 1753.33 ± 506.55 winged females, 4970.67 ± 2227.00 winged males, 15577.93 ± 2637.84 workers, and also brood in the amount of 1,589.93 ± 480.37 pupae, 4113.20 ± 1469.49 larvae and 1942.80 ± 741.67 eggs. The total population is 29949.40 ± 5358.31 [3]
