2001-2004
In 2001, he defeated Cedric Fields . In July, he knocked out in the first round of Ed White.
Fighting Fredey Ahunanya
In January 2001, a battle was fought between two undefeated avenues - Sergey Lyakhovich and Fredey Akhunany . Belarus with a slight advantage outplayed the Nigerian. At the end of the battle, Lyakhovich was declared the winner by unanimous decision of the judges. The fight took place as part of a show organized by HBO , the main event of which was the 2nd fight of Lennox Lewis - Hasim Rahman .

In June 2002, Lyakhovich lost by knockout in the 9th round to Maurice Harris , and suffered his first defeat. After that he spent 5 victorious fights.

2006—2008
Championship fight with Lamon Brewster
Almost a year and a half after the victory, he didn’t enter the ring, and in April 2006 Lyakhovich won on points of the world heavyweight champion according to WBO Leimon Brewster . From the first round, Lyakhovich showered Brewster with a hail of punches. and later in an interview, Brewster said that after the first round he did not see with his right eye, and he was diagnosed with retinal detachment. In the 7th round, Brewster shocked Sergei, and Lyakhovich knelt, but was able to level the fight in his favor again and became the new WBO world champion [2] .
Fight with Shannon Briggs
In November 2006, Sergey Lyakhovich, winning the match by points, lost to Shannon Briggs by knockout in the last second of the last round [3] .
Challenger battle with Nikolai Valuev
In February 2008, in a qualifying match for the WBA world title, he met with former world champion Nikolai Valuev [4] . Valuev dominated the entire match, winning every round and eventually won by unanimous decision.
2009—2014
Almost 2 years did not enter the ring and in November 2009 he knocked out in the 1st round of Jeremy Bathers. In May 2010, Sergey knocked out in the 9th round of Evans Quinn.
Battle with Robert Helenius
On August 4, 2011, Lyakhovich met with promising Finnish boxer Robert Helenius . The fight turned out to be very spectacular and bright. The first half of the battle was contented with a vivid and competitive struggle, with many vivid episodes from the side of the Finn, that of Belarus, but by the second half of the match Lyakhovich began to get tired and miss more hits. In the 8th round, Helenius knocked down Sergei Lyakhovich, and already in the first half of the 9th round he brought down a crushing hail of blows on the Belarusians. Only the intervention of the judge saved the Belarusman from a clean knockout, because after stopping the fight from the last blows the Finn Lyakhovich collapsed on the floor. Helenius won brightly and confidently [5] .
Fight with Bryant Jennings
March 24, 2012 met with American Bryant Jennings Avenue. The fight started equally, but from the second half of the match, Jennings began to pressure the Belarusan, and in the interval between 9 and 10 round the corner of the Belarusian took off his boxer [6] .
Deontay Wilder Fight
On August 9, 2013, he met with American Prospect Deontay Wilder . The fight started cautiously with reconnaissance from a long distance, but in the middle of the first round Wilder launched a right-handed strike, which was not entirely accurate, but forced Lyakhovich to retreat to the ropes. Within a few seconds, Deontay brutally knocked out Sergey with another right punch. Sergei fell and convulsed, the referee immediately gave the go-ahead for the end of the match. Lyakhovich was on the platform of the ring for a long time, and even a stretcher was taken out, but, fortunately, they were not needed - Sergei was able to recover [7] .
Fight with Andy Ruiz
December 20, 2014 met with the undefeated Avenue Andy Ruiz . Ruiz aggressively started the fight and in the first two rounds Lyakhovich was on the verge of defeat, but later the veteran managed to equalize the course of the fight. According to the results of ten rounds, Ruiz, who continued to play, although not very effectively, as an aggressor, won by unanimous decision, the score was 98-92, 96-94, 99-91, while the score 96-94 most accurately reflects what was happening on boxing ring. Andy Ruiz himself explained his faded appearance by a right arm injury that he received in the second round.
