Biography
He served in the Life Guard in the late 1840s. retired. He kept the serf orchestra on his estate in the Mogilev province and the famous music salon in the capital, was friends with M. I. Glinka and A. S. Dargomyzhsky [2] , as the composer was influenced by the latter.
He is the author of romances , including to Lermontov’s poems (“Circassian Song”, “Both Boring and Sad,” etc.), and compositions for the chamber ensemble , including three string quartets, the second of which received the second prize in competition in 1861 According to L.N. Raaben , the Russian Musical Society , this award to the Castrioto-Skanderbek quartet, stylistically motley and uneven, became "the last example of the creative competition of amateur and professional art", since the work of amateur composers is important for Russian music first the first half of the XIX century, during this period rapidly lost its significance [3] .
In addition, Castrioto-Skanderbek owns transcriptions for the piano quintet of symphonies, overtures and sonatas “Hammerclavier” by Ludwig van Beethoven . "Materials for the biography of A. S. Dargomyzhsky," written by Kastrioto-Skanderbek in collaboration with V. V. Stasov , were published in 1875 in the journal " Russian Antiquity ", and letters of Dargomyzhsky to him were also published.
