Information about the life of Julian is reported by Theodorite of Cyrus in the book “ History of God-Lovers ”. Without telling where Julian was from and when he was born, Theodorite writes that Julian found a miraculous cave in the depths of the Parthian desert and settled in this place. Locals honored Julian with the name “sava” (סַבָא), which means “elder” in Greek, and established his ascetic cell to the west of the Euphrates River, in the region that was then Parthian , in a place also called Osroen . He spent his life in fasting and prayer, once a week he ate food; food for him was barley bran bread, seasoning - salt, drink - spring water. As prayers, Julian used the psalms of David. Seeing his ascetic life, the disciples began to come to him and live with him in a cave, Julian became a spiritual mentor for them, so he created his own school of asceticism. The number of students Julian reached a hundred people. One of the students who came to Julian as a student was a young man of noble birth, the famous Rev. Asterius. After passing the school of Julian, Asterius founded his school of asceticism for lovers of wisdom in the vicinity of Hindar (a village near Antioch), Akakiy becomes a student of Asteria. Julian, along with his disciples, went to Mount Sinai, where he created a temple in memory of the attainment of the Tablets of the Testament by the holy prophet Moses . Having learned about the threats of the emperor Julian against Christians in 364, Julian threatened to completely exterminate Christians before going on a campaign against the Persians, Julian vowed to devote God to prayer for ten days and nights: during prayer he heard a voice saying that the unclean and vile piglet ( Emperor Julian) died. Although the term of the vow did not end, Julian had already stopped the intercessory prayer and replaced it with psalmopia, sending the grateful singing to the Lord. In 364, Valent became the emperor, who professed Arianism , persecution of the Orthodox began, at this time the emperor was expelled from Antioch by Meletius of Antioch . The Arians carried and spread the rumor in Antioch that Elder Julian also adheres to the dogmas preached by them. The Orthodox were particularly worried about rumors, having deceived the most inexperienced and simple people, did not lure them into a network of heretics. Flavian , Diodorus of Tarsia and the Monk Afraat turn to Akaki, they ask him to take the famous Asterius - his teacher and student of the holy elder Julian - into his companions and go to the general luminary of the Church, to the pillar of the Gospel teaching - to Julian to ask leave him his ascetic school and come to the rescue of thousands of Orthodox Christians perishing from seduction, and extinguish the Arian flame with the dew of their coming. Akaki set off, taking Asteria with him. Akaki and Asterius managed to persuade Julian, he leaves hermitage, which was 40 years old, and together with Akaki and Asterius goes with a sermon against Arianism. Having successfully preached and performed many miracles, Julian returns to his cave. Among the miracles performed by Julian are the healing of the sick, the killing by means of prayer in the city of Cyrus of the heretical bishop sophist Asterius , who seduced Christians with eloquence. Theodoret of Cyrus personally knew Akakiy Verriysky retold his story about Julian, which he heard from the lips of Akakiy.

Julian died in his cave at the end of the 4th century.
