History
Dzerzhinsky Avenue is one of the most ancient roads on the territory of modern Novosibirsk . In the XVII-XIX centuries, the road, now called Dzerzhinsky Avenue, was part of the Kalmyk tract, which went from the Krivoshchekovskaya crossing in the direction of the village of Kamenka , and then in the direction of Tomsk [2] .
The development of the avenue began in the 1930s thanks to the foundation of such large enterprises as the Knitwear Plant and the V.P. Chkalov Aviation Plant . After World War II , buildings in the style of monumental classicism began to appear along the avenue, later the avenue was built up with houses of Khrushchev’s construction .
Initially, the street was called Kamenskoye Highway, but in 1957 part of it was called Dzerzhinsky Avenue.
