Biography
Born in the family of the deacon of the Vvedensky church of Dmitrov Ivan Egorovich Danilevsky.
He studied at the Bethany Theological Seminary and the Moscow Theological Academy (MDA).
He received a master’s degree in theology for his work on the home use of the Bible among the Slavs.
In the years 1844-1848. taught pathology and Greek at the Kazan Theological Academy [1] . Since 1848, he taught pathology, logic, psychology, Latin and German at the Moscow Theological Seminary . He taught the Law of God at the Konstantinovsky Institute of Land Surveys , the Imperial Higher Technical School , and the Filaret Diocesan School . He was the abbot of churches at the seminary, in schools, as well as in the Peter and Paul Church in the Basmanny Church.
At the end of his life, he was rector of the Kazan Cathedral on Red Square .
He gained fame as a theologian, church historian and preacher. He printed a number of articles in ecclesiastical magazines and the book "On Divine Services" ( Moscow , 1874 ; 2 ed. 1880 ).
He was awarded the orders of St. Vladimir 3rd and 4th degree. It is assigned to hereditary nobility .
He was buried in the Miussky cemetery .

Brother - Archpriest of Athens, Platon Ivanovich (1816 - 1874).
Wife - Olga Semenovna Gruzova [2] (1830 - after 1870) - daughter of the Moscow archpriest, graduated from the Alexander Institute with a silver medal.

- Vsevolod (1851—?) - engineer, was engaged in the sewage device in Moscow
- Nikolay (1852—?) - engineer. His great-grandson is Mikhail Vasilievich Urzhumtsev
- Vladimir (1854—?)
- Alexander (1856-1926) - composer, choir conductor, folklorist, musicologist, teacher
- Anna (1867-1943) - married to V. I. Bogoslovsky, the son of a classmate of Kastalsky at the Academy of I. M. Bogoslovsky-Platonov
