Biography

Andre Winner was born on November 9, 1981 in the city of St. Georges , Grenada , his father was British, and his mother was an afro-kid . At the age of seven, he moved with his family permanently to Leicester , England . He began to actively play sports while studying at school: he played football, was a member of the athletics team. Once I enrolled in self-defense courses, where I met the famous English fighters Dan Hardy and Paul Daley , who influenced his decision to try himself in mixed martial arts [1] .

He made his debut in MMA in December 2004, knocked out his first rival in the first round. Over the next three years, he won five consecutive victories, including performing in such English promotions as Cage Rage and Cage Warriors . The first loss in his career was in April 2007, was caught in the “guillotine” by Greg Logran and lost consciousness, as a result of which a technical change was recorded. He won four more fights, but then lost one fight and reduced one to a draw.

Thanks to a series of successful performances in 2009, Winner attracted the attention of the largest fighting organization UFC and took part in the ninth season of their reality show The Ultimate Fighter , where he represented the UK team and trained under the guidance of the famous fighter Michael Bisping . On the way to the finals, he prevailed over all rivals, however, in the decisive match by unanimous decision, he lost to compatriot Ross Pearson .
