Crater Fechner ( lat. Fechner ) is a large ancient impact crater in the southern hemisphere of the far side of the moon . The name was given in honor of the German psychologist Gustav Theodor Fechner (1801–1887) and approved by the International Astronomical Union in 1970. The formation of the crater belongs to the Nectarian period [1] .

Crater Description
Crater Fechner is adjacent to the western part of the shaft of the huge crater Planck . Other closest neighbors of the crater are Kimura crater in the west-north-west and Van Wake crater in the south-west. The eastern part of the crater shaft crosses the Planck valley [2] . The selenographic coordinates of the center of the crater are , diameter 59.3 km [3] , depth 2.7 km [1] .
Crater Fechner has a close to circular shape and is significantly destroyed. The shaft is flattened, the formation of the eastern part of the shaft was influenced by the Planck valley and the proximity of the Planck crater. The inner slope of the shaft is non-uniform in width. The western-south-western extremity of the shaft is covered by a small cup-shaped satellite crater Fechner T, which is surrounded by an area of discarded rocks of light color. These rocks cover the south-western part of the Fechner crater bowl. The bottom of the bowl crater Fechner crossed, marked by many small craters. In the center of the bowl is a low rounded elevation of the terrain.
