History

The date of establishment is not established. Presumably founded at the beginning of the 20th century. The village belonged to the Solodovsky volost of Tsarevsky district of the Astrakhan province. According to the Memorial Book of the Astrakhan Province for 1914, 431 men and 411 women lived in the village of Pokrovsky. The village was assigned 30,315 tithes of comfortable and 28,262 uncomfortable lands [2] .

In 1919, the village as part of the Tsarevsky district was incorporated into the Tsaritsyn province . In 1928, the village was included in the Leninsky district of the Stalingrad district (the district was abolished in 1930) of the Lower Volga region (since 1934 - the Stalingrad region ) [3] , since 1936 - the Stalingrad region.

General physiographic characteristic

The village is located within the Volga-Akhtuba floodplain , on the left banks of Volik and the Pokrovsky backwater of the Volga River [4] , at a height of 9 meters below sea level [5] . Soils - floodplain meadow soils [6] .

By road, the distance to the regional center of the city of Volgograd is 67 km, to the district center of the city of Leninsk - 36 km, to the city of Krasnoslobodsk - 56 km [7] .

Climate

The climate is sharply continental , arid (according to the Köppen-Geiger climate classification - Dfa ). The average annual air temperature is positive and is + 8.7 ° C, the average temperature in the coldest month of January is 7.3 ° C, and the hottest month of July is + 24.7 ° C. The estimated multi-year rainfall is 360 mm. The least amount of precipitation falls in April (22 mm), the highest in June (38 mm) [5]
