Maximilian II of Burgundy ( niderl. Maximiliaan II van Bourgondië ; 1514 - 1558 ) - statesman and military leader of the Spanish Netherlands in the service of the Habsburgs , shtgalgalter of the Spanish crown of several districts of Seventeen provinces - Holland , Zeeland and Utrecht , Admiral General , Admiral of the Netherlands and Admiral of Flanders .

Biography
The Dutch nobleman , the Marquis de Vere and Vlissingen and the lord de Beveren . The son of Adolf Burgundy and Anna Bergen. He was a descendant of Antoine of Burgundy , illegitimate son of Philip III the Good , Duke of Burgundy .
A frequent guest at his father's house was Erasmus of Rotterdam , who, in his letters to young Maximilian, encouraged him to study science.
In 1540, Maximilian succeeded his father, taking the post of Admiral of the Netherlands . From 1542 to 1558 - Admiral of Flanders .
Commander of the Order of the Golden Fleece (1546).
In 1547, he became a statesman of Holland , Zeeland and Utrecht, and General-Admiral of Zeeland.
In 1555, Emperor Charles V rewarded Maximilian with the title of Marquis in reward for a 25-year faithful service.
In 1542 he married Louise from the house of Croix , the daughter of Philip II de Croy . The marriage was childless.
After the death of Maximilian, all his property passed to the nephew of Maximilian Henin-Leethard , the son of his sister Anna. Markizat Vera and Vlissingen were sold for debt.
