English National Opera ( English National Opera ) - one of the largest opera houses in the UK , whose home stage is the West End Theater London Coliseum . It was founded in 1931 as the Sadlers Wells opera house (after the name of the theater where the performances were held) [1] . Since 1958, the troupe has been performing at the London Coliseum (2,360 seats) [2] (more precisely: 2,359 seats at the London Coliseum). The theater got its modern name in 1974 [3] .

Among the main conductors of the theater are L. Collingwood, A. Gibson, C. Davis , C. Mackerras and others. The theater’s repertoire includes the works of Mozart, Wagner (including The Ring of the Nibelung), Janacek (a number of works of which are staged here for the first time on the English stage), Stravinsky and many others. In 1985-93, the theater was headed by P. Jonas (b. 1946). The troupe toured in the USSR (1990). Performances are mainly in English.
