History
The railway came to Abkhazia in the early 30s of the XX century . In 1940, a section was opened from Inguri station to Sukhumi (with a branch to Tkuarchal ), and in 1942 , after completing the laying of the track on the Sukhumi- Adler section, through traffic began along the entire Black Sea railway line. It was taken into permanent operation only in 1949 and became part of the Transcaucasian Railway . The modern station building was built in the mid 50-ies of the XX century . In early 1992, trains ran through the Sukhum station:
- No. 13/14 Moscow - Tbilisi ,
- No. 35/36 Moscow - Tskaltubo ,
- No. 47/48 Moscow - Batumi ,
- No. 51/52 Moscow - Sukhumi,
- No. 55/56 Moscow - Yerevan ,

As a result of the armed conflict of 1992-1993, traffic along the Sukhum station was completely stopped. After the cessation of hostilities, the station served only two pairs of commuter trains:
- Sukhum - Psou (Russian-Abkhaz border)
- Sukhum - Ochamchira .
On December 5, 2002 , the Sukhum - Sochi electric train passed over the bridge over the Psou River . In 2004 , full-scale restoration work began on the site of the Abkhazian railway (from Psou to Sukhum), carried out by Russian construction organizations. For the period of repair work, the movement of electric trains was stopped. On September 10, 2004, the first long-distance train passed through the Abkhazian railway, which consisted of several non-stop wagons Sukhum - Moscow [2] (from Vesyoloye station to Moscow, these wagons went as part of the fast train No. 75/76). At the same time, the movement of the Sochi -Sukhum electric train resumed. Currently, the Sukhum station serves 1 pair of trains No. 305/306 with the Moscow - Sukhum connection.
Starting in the summer of 2014, several new summer passenger trains were added to train No. 305/306 by the Moscow - Sukhum train.
