Plug pc

Plug computer, Plug PC [1] - an external device , often configured for use at home or in the office (for example, as a home server ) as a compact computer. It is characterized by high performance, low power consumption of the system on a chip , several I / O ports (e.g. USB ports ) and, as a rule, pre-installed by some kind of Linux distribution . Most versions do not have an input for connecting the display and are best suited as a media server with backup service , file sharing and remote access , and thus act as a bridge between protocols at home, for example, Digital Living Network Alliance ( DLNA), Server Message Block (SMB) and cloud services . However, there are Plug PCs that have an analog VGA monitor and / or HDMI connectors, which, along with several USB ports, have the ability to connect a display, keyboard and mouse, thus making them full-fledged alternatives to desktop computers and laptops , plus low power consumption.

The name "plug-in computer" (the word Eng. Plug can also be translated as "plug; plug") was given to them because of the small configuration of such devices: plug-in computers often have the form of an AC power adapter and can be connected directly to an outlet.

Plug PCs typically consume little power and are inexpensive. One manufacturer claims that its $ 119 Plug PC consumes 1.2 watts . [2]
