General (philosophy)

General (philosophy) is the philosophical category of dialectics . Together with the categories of the singular , the special and the universal, it reflects various objective dialectical connections of the properties of objects and phenomena of the material world, as well as the stages of theoretical cognition of these connections by human thinking. The general is determined by the presence of properties of each material object that are inherent not only to it, but also to other objects that make it possible to distinguish groups of objects with the same properties ^[1] . Each material object represents the unity of the general and the special, the unity of the parties, indicating its similarity with other material objects, and the parties, indicating its difference from other material objects ^[2] . The universal is the type of the general inherent in all objects and phenomena of objective reality. The universal cannot act as a special one ^[3] . The process of cognition in science begins with an ascent from a single sensually-concrete to an abstract general. The next step in the process of cognition is the transition from the general to the special and the unitary and at the same time from the abstract to the concrete ^[4]
