Jerboa mice [1] ( lat. Notomys ) - a genus of rodents of the murine family. Representatives of the genus are common in Australia, where they came from Asia about 5 million years ago. They are able to live in hot deserts, virtually without water. Half of the known species became extinct during European colonization. The cause of extinction was the predation of foxes and cats introduced to Australia, as well as competition with rabbits and livestock.

10 species are attributed to the genus, of which 5 are considered extinct:
- Northern jerboa mouse ( Notomys alexis )
- † Short-tailed jerboa mouse ( Notomys amplus ). Known for two specimens caught in Australia in the Northern Territory . Since 1894 there is no information. Perhaps, feral cats as predators and rabbits as competitors in the feed contributed to the extinction of this species [2] .
- Northern jerboa mouse ( Notomys aquillo ) [2]
- Brown jerboa mouse ( Notomys cervinus )
- Brown jerboa mouse ( Notomys fuscus )
- † Long-tailed jerboa mouse ( Notomys longicaudatus ) inhabited Western Australia , Southern Australia, and central Australia. Since 1901, no information. Extinction is associated with the impact of livestock and rabbits on the habitat of this species, as well as with the destruction of the species by foxes and cats [2] .
- † Larger-eared jerboa mouse ( Notomys macrotis ) was found in Western Australia. Known in two instances. Since 1843 there is no information [2] .
- Mitchell jerboa mouse ( Notomys mitchelli )
- † Queensland jerboa mouse ( Notomys mordax ). Known for one skull found in Queensland . Since 1846 there is no information. The reliability of the species is doubtful [2] .
- † Notomys robustus
