Yudhishthir Sahni ( born Yudhishthir Sahni , better known as Balraj Sahni Hindi बलराज साहनी ; May 1, 1913 , Rawalpindi , British India - April 13, 1973 , Bombay , India ) - Indian film and theater actor, director, screenwriter and writer.

Biography
He was the eldest son of a wealthy textile merchant in Rawalpindi [1] .
In 1934 he graduated from college in Lahore and took up literary activities. In 1940-1944 he worked as an announcer at the BBC (London). Returning to his homeland, he participated in the formation of the Association of Popular Progressive Theaters of India (IPTA). He made his film debut in 1946 in the film " Children of the Earth " directed by Khoji Ahmad Abbas [2] . He played in the theater.
He was married to the famous actress of the Damayanti Theater, who died in 1947, leaving him two children: son Parikshit and daughter Shabnam. Two years later, he married his cousin Santosh Chandhok, who gave birth to his daughter Sanovar [1] [3] .
In 1951 he starred in the film Hulchul K. Asifa with the big stars of that time, Dilip Kumar and Nargis . During the filming of the film, he was arrested for leftist views, and the director had to get a special court decision to continue filming scenes from Sahni, albeit accompanied by police [4] .
