Description
Presented as a paranormal documentary series entitled “My Nightmare in Roanoke”. The story of a couple whose experiences are played out by actors. Shelby and Matt Miller moved from Los Angeles , California to a home in North Carolina after a brutal attack on Matt on the street. Matt was hospitalized and this situation caused Shelby to have a miscarriage. As soon as the couple moves to their new home, strange and paranormal phenomena begin to haunt them.

Creation History
Development
On November 10, 2015, the FX channel extended the series for the sixth season [11] , which will premiere on September 14, 2016 [12] . In August 2015, one of the creators of the series, Ryan Murphy , spoke about the sixth season: “It will be darker, but less luxurious than the fifth season (“ Hotel “). More robbery and darkness ” [13] . In October 2015 , in addition to the fifth season itself, the premiere of the season’s video was premiered, where Murphy said that the theme of the sixth season lurks in the first season, as well as in some others, but initially he planned to do so with the seventh season. In January 2016, the CEO of FX, John Landgraf mentioned that basically the actions of the sixth season will occur in the present tense, but the past will also be shown [14] . He also confirmed that the premiere episode of the season will be released in the fall of 2016 . At the end of June, the first poster for the season was published: a black background, the number six and a question mark at the same time, made in red. On July 6, it was officially announced that the first episode of the season would premiere on September 14, 2016 at FX [12] .
Casting
In October 2015, Murphy said that he asked the actress and singer Lady Gaga , who played in the fifth season , to return to the sixth, but did not expect a quick response from her [15] . On March 4, 2016, Lady Gaga confirmed her participation in the sixth season [16] . Actress Emma Roberts , who played the Sabbat in the third season, said that she was talking with Murphy about her "diabolical" role in the upcoming season [17] . In February 2016, actress Angela Bassett confirmed her return in season six in an interview for the Larry King Now program [18] [19] . In March 2016, the Paley Fest took place, where Murphy invited Katie Bates , Denis O'Hare , Sarah Paulson , Finn Wittrock , Cheyenne Jackson , Wes Bentley and Matt Bomer . All the actors present at the festival will return in the sixth season [20] . Murphy also revealed that children will be involved in the sixth season, as he liked working with them in the fifth season, although it was difficult. In May 2016, actress Jessica Lang , who starred in the first four seasons, said in an interview with Charlie Rose that she would not return to the sixth and next seasons of the series, saying: “I devoted four years, four seasons to this. Each year gave me amazing roles. Everything changed from season to season, making my work even more interesting ... but no. Sometimes you come to the end of something, and you need to do this naturally ” [21] . In June 2016, actor Leslie Jordan who played in the third season of the Sabbat will return to the sixth [22] . Later that month, Bomer [23] , Jackson [24] and Evan Peters [25] officially confirmed their return to the season. Recently it also became known that Taissa Farmiga, who had played earlier in the first and third seasons, will take part in the season.
Filming
In March, the television channel received a major loan for filming the season in Los Angeles , California [26] . Filming of the sixth season began in Los Angeles in June 2016 [27] . It was later announced that actress Angela Bassett would direct one of the episodes of the season [28] . August 1, 2016 TMZ website published pictures from the alleged location of the filming of the sixth season - a place on Croaton Island (near Roanoke Island), where an indigenous tribe of the same name lived, which disappeared without a trace between 1587 and 1590. Later, TMZ published photographs of a home in California State Forest [29] . According to the site, the house was specially built for filming in the colonial style [30] .
