Ulrik Adolf Holstein , Earl Holsteinborg ( Dat. Ulrik Adolf Holstein ; April 14, 1664 - August 21, 1737 ) - Danish statesman, great chancellor during the reign of Frederick IV .

Career

1679 became the page of Crown Prince Frederick and won the favor of the future king. 1770 received the title of baron. Three years later, he was removed from the court after trying to persuade the king to abandon the marriage with Elizabeth Helen von Viehrer. He received the bailiff service in Flensburg, but soon became a member of the Privy Council, and in 1708 received the title of Count Holsteinborg.

He was married to Christina Reventlov, in 1712 he helped the king kidnap his wife’s sister Anna Sophia . In 1718 he went on a diplomatic mission to England. Anna Sofia became queen in 1721, and Holstein was appointed Grand Chancellor. He left the post after the death of the king in 1730.
