Coaching career
At the beginning of his coaching career, Lucas coached various clubs in the Spanish Second Division league. In the 2006/07 season, he led the Olesa team to the First Division. Already in the Spanish First Division , Olesa showed good results and reached the semifinals of the national Cup. In the season 2010/2011 became the head coach of the Spanish “Avenida” . The coach justified the trust given to him and already in his debut year as a coach he won the Spanish Super Cup, won the gold of the First Division of the Spanish League and Euroleague . For two seasons in Avenida, Lucas Mondelo won 7 different titles.
In the 2012/2013 season, Mondelo became the head coach at the Chinese Shanxi Club , which recently entered the First Division of the national championship. With this team, the coach achieved amazing results, the club won the championship in the first season.
In May 2016, he signed a contract with Dynamo (Kursk) . On September 22, 2016, he won the first trophy with a new team, winning the Governor's Cup of the Kursk Region [1] .
On April 16, 2017, after winning the women's Euroleague, it was announced that Mondelo would train the Kursk club next season [2] .
Spain national team
In 2013, Mondelo took gold from the Spanish national team at the Eurobasket in France . In 2014, he took silver medals at the World Championships in Turkey . In 2015, he won bronze medals at Eurobasket in Hungary . In the summer of 2016, the Spanish national team selected for the Summer Olympic Games in Brazil , where they won silver medals led by Lucas Mondelo.
