Georg Alexander Sooden ( Est. Georg Aleksander Sooden ; December 2, 1904 , Helsingfors - July 28, 1944 , Sinimäed) - Estonian military, SS Sturmbannfuhrer, who served in the 659th East Wehrmacht battalion and the 20th Estonian SS Grenadier Division.

Biography
Helsinki native. Father is an Estonian, a police officer in Helsingfors. Mother is of Finnish-Swedish descent. From three years he lived in Johvi . In 1924 he graduated from high school, went to serve in the army and in 1927 he graduated from an officer school, receiving the rank of junior lieutenant. He served until 1940 in Kaiteseliit , had the rank of lieutenant.
After the annexation of the Baltic States to the USSR, Soden was transferred to the 22nd Rifle Corps , but on July 28, 1941 he defected from there and switched to the side of the Germans. Since September 1941, he fought against the Soviet troops, commanded in May 1943, commanded the 659th Estonian Ostbatalion. Made in the SS Hauptsturmführer, from January 1944 - the SS Sturmbannführer. He fought near Volkhov, Ilmen and Novgorod. From the beginning of March 1944 he served in the Narva region with a battalion, in the summer of that year he led the 1st battalion of the 47th SS Grenadier Regiment in the 20th Estonian SS Division.
He died on July 28 (according to other sources) on July 30, 1944 in the battles at the Tannenberg line. He was buried in his native Jõhvi on the Estonian War of Independence Square.
