The administrative center is the village of Staraya Kriusha .
The area was formed on March 7, 1941.
On March 4, 1959, the Starokriushansky district was disbanded, most of its territory became part of the Peter and Paul region , and the smaller (Sobatsky village council) - into the Kalacheevsky region .
