Biography

Born in France . The son of a Frenchman and Little Russians . He graduated from high school and the real school Gurevich [1] . Then he graduated from St. Petersburg University at the Faculty of History and Philology. After that, he remained at the university on the proposal of Academician A. Veselovsky to prepare for the professorship. In 1897, for the translation of β€œSongs of Roland,” the size of the original was awarded the Pushkin Prize. He was an employee of Kiev News, Pedagogical Thought, and the magazine of poems Lightning. In 1901, Imperial University of Tomsk elected him a lecturer by competition. In 1902 he was invited to the post of lecturer at the Imperial University of St. Vladimir . In 1904, the Department of History and Philology sent him for scientific purposes to London and Paris . After that, he was a privat-docent of Western European literature at Kiev University . He lectured at the Kiev women's courses of Dovnar-Zapolsky and at the drama courses of Lysenko . Received the academic title of master and doctor. According to his political convictions, he belonged to the party of people's freedom .
