Biography

Belonged to the French line of the Ostseey clan von Rosen . The son of the Marquis of Reynold-Charles de Rosen and Marie-Beatrice-Octavia de Gramont.

For a year he served as a musketeer, then on April 12, 1729 he received under the command of the cavalry regiment of his name (later the regiment of Württemberg). He commanded him as part of the Italian army in the campaigns of 1733-1735 - during the siege of Pizzigetton and the castle of Milan in 1733, the sieges of Novara , Tortona , the battles of Parma and Guastall , and the siege of Mirandola in 1734, the capture of Gonzaga, Reggio , Revere in 1735, and returned to France in June 1736.

January 1, 1740 promoted to foreman . In the same year he received permission from Louis-Auguste de Bourbon , the great beater of France , to arrange a driven hunt for roe deer and wild boar in the La Hardt forest.

On August 1, 1741, he was appointed to the Rhine Army of Marshal Melbuis . On August 31, he came out from Givé with the 3rd division of this army, brought it to Westphalia, and spent the winter in Buren , in the Paderbrn bishopric. He followed the 1st Division, which moved from Westphalia to Bohemia in August 1742, participated in several significant clashes on the Bohemian border, and helped supply Braunau .

He returned to France with a fourth division in July 1743. He ended the campaign under the command of Marshal Kanyi in Upper Alsace , where he was appointed on September 1, and participated in the defeat of the enemy near Renwiller on September 30.

April 1, 1744 sent to the Rhine Army. Participated in the capture of Weissenburg and Lauter lines. On May 2, he was promoted to camp marshal , and received a production order on August 13. He was in business near Augenum and during the siege of Freiburg .

On April 1, 1745 he was appointed to the army of the king, fought at Fontenoy , participated in the sieges of the city and the stronghold of Tournai , Oudenaardt and Dendermond .

May 1, 1746 was again assigned to the army of the king, was under sieges of Mons , Charleroi , Namur , fought at Roca .

May 1, 1747 appointed to the Flanders Army, participated in the Battle of Laufeld , and was part of the army, which covered the siege of Bergen op-Zoma .

May 1 - June 15, 1748 again served in the Flanders Army. May 10, promoted to lieutenant general of the armies of the king. He died in the bloom of years in Paris next year, unfortunately, according to Secretary Pinard, "especially because of his military talents and qualities of spirit and heart."

Family

Wife (07.24.1731, Saint-Remy): Countess Jeanne Octavia de Vodre de Saint-Remy (07.17.1715–9.08.1778), daughter of Count Nikola-Joseph de Vodre and Johanna Katarina von Rottenburg. By marriage with this rich heiress, the Marquis acquired the seignoria of Rottenburg and Masevo, the baronies of Confland and Saint-Remy, the lands of Monto, Betoncourt, and so on, which, combined with the significant land holdings of the Rosenov themselves, made him one of the richest lords of Alsace.
