Sochi Jazz Festival is an annual international jazz festival in Sochi. It has been held since 2010 in July-August for 4 days. The festival program includes performances by world-class musicians from Russia, Europe and the USA, master classes, creative meetings and jam sessions. The producer, president of the festival is Igor Butman [1] [2] [3] [4] .

History
The Aquajaz festival began in Sochi since 2002, but then the tradition was interrupted. In 2010, the festival was revived as international as part of the Cultural Olympiad-2010 project, dedicated to the Sochi-2014 Olympiad [1] . The first festival after the resumption was held on July 17 and 18, 2010. Since 2014, the festival has become part of the post-Olympic cultural heritage [5] .
Sochi Jazz Festival traditionally opens with a parade of musicians in the Riviera Park, where artists play various compositions. In 2010 and 2011, concerts were held only in the Green Theater of the Riviera Park in the open. Since 2012, the main program of the festival takes place in the Festivalny concert hall, and since 2013 also in the Sochi Winter Theater. In addition to concerts, the festival includes performances in Sochi squares, jam sessions in city cafes [1] [6] . In the early years, the festival lasted 2 days, from 2013 switched to 4-day mode [1] .
2013 was a landmark year for the festival. A record number of participants took part in Aquajaz - more than 150, the festival was held at new venues. Leading federal media outlets covered in detail the events of the festival, its successes were noted by President Vladimir Putin and Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky [5] .
Over the first four years, the festival was visited by several tens of thousands of spectators [5] .
Among the participants of the festival are world-famous jazzmen: Bill Evans and the Soulgrass group, CAB groups, Take 6 group, Igor Butman Moscow Jazz Orchestra, Daniil Kramer Trio, Paul Bollenback, Kate Davis, Delfeayo Marsalis Quintet, Virgil Donati, Allan Harris, Tony MacAlpine, Zenia McPherson, Brianna Thomas, Mark Whitfield Jr., Oleg Akkuratov, Robert Anchipolovsky, Anatoly Kroll, Nikolai Levinovsky, Dmitry Mospan, Valery Ponomarev, Vadim Eilenkrig and many others [5] .
In 2017, Igor Butman and Igor Butman Music Group decided to rebrand the famous Sochi festival and emphasize its urban status. As a result, “Aquajaz” changed its name to the more capacious Sochi Jazz Festival [7] .
Sochi Jazz Festival'2017 has prepared an amazing premiere! For the first time in Russia, two divas of contemporary jazz, Nik West and Patti Austin, will perform at the festival! Nik West is an extravagant bassist and vocalist, in the past she was a member of the famous Prince's band, and now she is the leader of one of the most successful funk projects of our time. Patti Austin is the Grammy Award winner, a true jazz and soul legend who will present a program dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Ella Fitzgerald, with Igor Butman and the Moscow Jazz Orchestra. Performances by Nik West and Patti Austin will take place on August 6 at the Festival Concert Hall.
The eighth Sochi Jazz Festival will be held from August 3 to 6, 2017! Sochi again awaits a colossal musical parade led by Igor Butman on Seaport Square and the performance of key figures of world jazz on the stages of the Winter Theater and the Festivalniy concert hall!
