Archie Khan was born in Dodgeville , WI on September 14, 1880 . In 1901, he was able to set a personal record in running for 100 yards with a score of 9.8 seconds. Two years later, he twice won the US Athletics Championships in the 100 and 220 yards. In the same year he enrolled at the University of Michigan with a degree in law , from which he graduated in 1905 .

In 1904, Khan took part in the 1904 Summer Olympics in St. Louis . He participated in three disciplines - running at 60, 100 and 200 meters . He won all the races in which he participated, becoming the triple champion of the Games, and in the final of the 200 m run he set an Olympic record with a time of 21.6 seconds. Khan became the first athlete to win both sprint distances (100 and 200 m) at the same Olympics.

After the Games, Khan once again became the champion of the USA in the 220-yard race in 1905 and became the winner in the 100m distance at the unofficial 1906 Olympic Games in Athens , but the International Olympic Committee did not recognize this Olympics and therefore Khan did not formally become the Olympic champion for the fourth time. .

After completing a career, Khan began to train university teams and wrote the book How to Sprint ( eng. How to Sprint ).

Archie Khan died on January 21, 1955 in Charlottesville , Virginia . For his achievements, he was nicknamed “ Milwaukee Meteor” and was included in the Athletics Hall of Fame of the University of Michigan in 1983 .
