Zhang Feng ( Chinese р 锋 п , pinyin : Zhāng Fēng ; born 1981 , Shijiazhuang , China ) is an American scientist, member of the NAS of the USA (2018). The works are mainly devoted to bioengineering , genetic engineering and neurobiology .

As a graduate student, he worked on optogenetics with Carl Deisseroth . In 2009, he received his Ph.D. in chemistry from Stanford University [1] [2] . Since 2012, he has been working on the genome editing system [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] [11] . This work was recognized as one of the most important in 2013 according to the journal Nature [12] . Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (2018).
