Career
The actor gained wide fame in 1978, starring in a central role in two films at once - in Inglourious Basterds and in the film adaptation of the Marvel comics, the television movie Doctor Strange .
Personal life
From 1983 to 1995 he was in a love relationship with the American poet James Merrill .
