Story
The film takes place in Kansas City. An accident occurs at a nuclear power plant, during which its employees turn into bloodthirsty zombies and devour their former colleagues. The government decides to brick up the station to avoid consequences. A few years later, three teenagers, Mike (Auggie Alvarez), Joey (Chris Harris) and his sister Beth (Cheryl Metz), accidentally frees the living dead and runs away from them into the city. At the same time, a gathering should be held at a female criminal group led by Sherry (Tony Monaghan), who have to defend themselves from the attacking dead. Sherry is the only one left alive. Crowds of zombies begin to storm Kansas City, and teenagers with their families are trying to escape. Along the way, they find out that the nuclear power plant was built on an ancient Indian burial place and toxic waste somehow revived their remains. A group of people first holds the defense in the house, and then breaks into the local forest with a fight. There, they are joined by Sherry, who escaped from a zombie. But even there, the living dead overtake them and kill one of the survivors, Larry (Jerry Angel). People find themselves driven into the very station from which it all began. Beth, who was previously bitten by the dead, is shot by her own mother (Katie Mets), after which she puts a bullet into her head herself. Sherry reaches the abandoned military depot, but is ambushed by the living dead. Dave (T.G. Watkins) dies at the hands of the zombies. Mike and Joey, armed with improvised means, make their way to the emergency exit, which leads them to the outskirts of the city. Weakened friends are again attacked and Joey breaks his neck and dies. Mike engages in hand-to-hand combat with a zombie, but stumbles and falls onto a sharp stake. The last survivor, a man with a gun named Ralph (Frank Dunlay), flees through a deserted city and gets to the church. He begins to knock on the door, but only attracts attention and, being pressed against the door by a crowd of zombies, dies.
