The best defensive player among students according to the WBCA

The best defensive player among students according to the WBCA version ( WBCA Defensive Player of the Year ) is an annual basketball award given by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA ) to the best defensive player among female students of the first division of the national association University Sports (NCAA) as a result of voting by members of the WBCA selection committee. The winner in this nomination is selected from among the best defensive players of the conferences that are part of the first NCAA division. If there is no such award in any conference, then it can nominate such a player among its applicants, whose candidacy will be considered at the national level. This trophy was established and first presented in the 2006/07 season by Lindsay Harding of Duke University .
