Born in a Nazi prison camp in Slovenia [2] . Father Dragan Franz Holzer fought in World War II on the side of the Yugoslav partisans . and was killed in battle. Shortly after the war ended, the mother took the family to her hometown Nis in Serbia , where Holzer grew up.
He played 52 matches for the Yugoslav national team , was part of the national team at Euro 1968 , including the final match of the tournament, where the Yugoslavs lost.
Holzer, who was considered the legend of the Hajduk Split football club [3] , died in Split on September 23, 2015, at 71 years of age [3] .
