Jacob Caro ( German: Jacob Caro ; February 2, 1835 [1] - December 12, 1904 ) is a German historian . Professor of History in Jena and Wroclaw .

Biography
Born in the city of Gniezno in the family of a rabbi . After graduating from high school in Poznan, he studied history and philosophy in Berlin and Leipzig . In 1863, he got a job at Jena University as a private assistant professor , and taught history.
For several years he lived in St. Petersburg at the court, was engaged in archival research. He accompanied the Grand Duchess Elena Pavlovna on trips. He refused to continue his career in Russia and in 1865 returned to Jena. Since 1869, he taught at the University of Wroclaw, and received the post of professor there. Since 1886, a foreign corresponding member of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences [2] .
Jacob Caro died on December 12, 1904 in Wroclaw.
