Fest Anča ( Slovak. Fest Anča ) is an international animation festival , the only Slovak multimedia festival dedicated to animated films , created primarily for an adult audience.
Fest Ancha is held annually in the Slovak city of Zilina : in the cultural center Zilina-Zarechye Railway Station, in the New Synagogue and in other cultural venues of the city.

History
Fest Ancha 2008
The first Fest Ancha festival was held at the Station cultural center of the Slovak city of Zilina from August 1 to 3, 2008. His goal was to convince viewers of the fallacy of their opinion that animated films are intended only for children and infantile people. At the first festival, “Fest Ancha”, masterpieces of world animation were presented to a wide audience, and the organizers showed the audience not only modern trends in animation, but also proven classic cartoons. Special guests of the festival were: Swedish comic book creator Max Andersson and Slovak writer, screenwriter and artist Albert Marenchin. As part of the festival, evening open-air shows were held, live music was played, performances, parties and animation workshops were held. On the last day of the festival, 5 awards were presented at the Zilina City Hall.
The Anča Award was awarded to Ivan Shebestov for the cartoon Four (Slovakia), Blue for the film Muto (Italy) and Tomer Ashed for the film Our Wonderful Nature (Germany).
The portal’s Internet viewer prize was won by the film Super Grouper Jonathan Grouper and Andrey Smirnov (Israel).
The prize “MAya Award” was awarded to the film “ Life of a Fly” by Barbora Berezniakova (Slovakia).
Fest Ancha 2009
The second festival, “Fest Ancha” was held in the cultural center “Station” of the city of Zilina from July 31 to August 2, 2009. A novelty of the festival was the section of the modern Slovak cartoon. Another showroom also appeared - S2. For the first time, the Animation Karaoke Battle action was also held. During the festival, an exhibition of the French low- edition comic book and screen printing Le Dernier Cri (Last Squeak) was organized. Special guests of the 2nd festival were: British artist Phil Mulloy and French artist Pacito Bolino. In an international competition of animated films with a duration of less than 30 minutes, a jury consisting of: Ivan Zayatsova (Slovakia), Viola Sova (Poland), Phil Mulloy (Great Britain), Mihai Mitritsa (Romania) and Pacito Bolino (France) awarded three prizes and a prize for special confession.
The “Anča Award” figurine for the first place, which was specially created for the festival by Slovak artist Radko Machuha, went to Marc Erishe (film “ Ollo”, France) for “an exclusively emotional image and a sense of mystery.”
Two other awards were given to Mirai Mizue (film Jem, Japan) for the simplicity and power of visual processing and Jeremy Clapin (film Schismophrenia ), France) for a sincere narration.
The jury received a special mention of Torsten Fleisch (film Energy! (Germany) for the intense effect of natural power achieved through non-narrative animation.
The Maya Award, which was presented by representatives of the Maya company, went to Peter Harakali for the film Carrot (Slovakia), and the Internet viewer award for the Huste.TV portal went to Lukasz Sigmund for the film Mafia II. (Slovakia).
Fest Ancha 2010
The third festival, aimed at presenting the work of independent directors from the USA, was held in the cultural center "Station" of the city of Zilina from July 30 to August 1, 2010 . This year’s novelty was the festival’s video diary entitled “Festival Seconds”. The DVD "Animation is not mŕtva" was presented (Animation is not dead (the first three words are written in English, the last - in Slovak), which became a compilation of 14 animated films created in recent years by the young generation of Slovak directors. Israeli was a special guest of the festival illustrator ilustrátorka Rutu Modan, who, along with Michal Struss and Igor Prassel, was a member of the jury that decided on the Anča Award and who this time would be worthy of special mention.
The first prize was received by the film Old Fangs (director Adrien Merizho, Ireland), the second place went to the Slovak film William directed by Veronika Obertova, the third was the film Soap (directed by Kay Oyama, Japan).
The jury received a special mention of two films: Sam Hot Dogs (directed by David Lopez Retamero, Great Britain) and Lack of sleep does not kill (Marko Mestrovic, Croatia).
In the online contest “TAKMER (almost)”, which allows viewers to choose from ten films that were barely enough to participate in the international contest of the festival “Fest Ancha”, their favorite and thus bring him closer to victory, the film with the German name won NAT (director Michael Fragstein, Germany).
Fest Ancha 2011
The fourth festival “Ancha Ancha”, focused on retrospective of the legend of Slovak animation Victor Kubal, was held in the cultural center “Station” of the city of Zilina from July 1 to 3, 2011 . Also, the center of the city of Zilina became the festival venue, films were also shown at the Mirage shopping center. At the festival, the world premiere of the experimental film Konzerva by Rudolf Urz took place, a new award was added - Anča Music Video Award. Special guests of the festival were: Russian artist Ivan Maximov and American Pip Khodorov, a professional in the field of experimental cinema.
Jury members: Ivan Maksimov (Russia), Eva Mikhalkova (Slovakia) and Velko Popović (Croatia) presented the Anča Award to the films Crocodile (director Caspar Jantsis, Estonia), Irate Man (director Anita Killy, Norway) and Stanley Pickle (director Victoria Maser , Great Britain).
The winners in the new Anča Music Video Award category were the films: To lose this child (directors Yuval and Merav Nathan, Israel), Caffeine (director Patricia Luna, Russia, and Danae Diaz, Spain) and Baby, I'm yours (director Irina Dakeva, France) . The best videos were chosen by jury members Pip Hodorov (USA) and Tamas Liska (Hungary).
Fest Ancha 2012
The fifth festival was held from June 28 to July 1, 2012 in the cultural center "Station" and in the New Synagogue of the city of Zilina. Within the framework of the festival, the Frejm Baj Frejm exhibition was held, at which animation tools in the works of contemporary artists were presented. Special guests of the festival were: Estonian artist Mati Kutt, Slovak scriptwriter and director Zuzana Gindl-Tatarova, Swiss program director of independent cinema art films "Riffraff" Frank Brown and Spanish creator of animated films with dolls Anna Solanas.
The main prize of the Anča Award jury composed of: Frank Brown, Zuzana Gindl-Tatarova and Anna Solanas - was presented to the Polish animated film directed by Marta Payek Snová šnúra .
The jury also decided to award incentives for the short animated film O, Willy, directed by Emmy de Sveif and Mark James Roels (Belgium), and the film The Big House, directed by Kristjan Holm (Estonia).
For the first time in the history of the festival, the jury awarded a prize to a student animated film - On different types of paper directed by Sami Barr, Romain Blondel , Helene Marshall and Celine Seye (France).
Incentive prize awarded to the student film BAKA! ! Immanuel Wagner (Switzerland).
The jury consisting of Noro Drzhiak (Slovakia), Alexander Janczyk (Czech Republic) and Johnny Kelly (Irladnia) - awarded the Anča Music Video Award to the animated video clip Kuchka directed by Allison Shulnik (USA).
Fest Ancha 2013
The sixth festival, focused on retrospective shows, united under the general name “History of the Slovak animated video clip”, was held at the Zhilina-Zarechie railway station from June 27 to 30, 2013 . This time, the innovation was: the Anča Student Award category - a prize for the best student animated film, the screening of the most original and unusual films selected for the Anča in Wonderland category (Ancha in Wonderland), the emergence of a forum called We Need to Talk About Animation ! (We need to talk about animation! ), Organized in cooperation with the Association of Animated Film Producers (APAF) and focused on the discussion and exchange of experience in the field of animation creation training. Also for the first time was the so-called "Children's Day", which consists entirely of a children's animation program. Special guests of the festival were: the artistic director of various German festivals of experimental and animated films Mike Reiss (Germany), the Czech director of animated and feature films Michael Pavlatov and Emma de Svejf (Belgium), which produces and uses dolls in commercials, films and documentaries .
The main prize Anča Award was won by the film Matusha Vizára Pandas (Slovakia).
This time, the jury awarded the prize for special recognition in person on their own behalf: the prize was received by Emma de Svejf - the film A barely noticeable tear (directed by Carlo Vogele , France), Ulrich veganast - the film Zaitsevo ( directed by Ana Nedelkovich, Nikola Maidak ml., Serbia ) and Michaela Pavlatova - the film Double Fikret (director Wang Haiyang, China).
The Anča Student Award was awarded to the Plug and Play film ( directed by Michael Fry, Switzerland), and the Anča Music Video Award was awarded to the film Bye, Macadam (directed by Dmitry Stankovich, France), Turnstile (directed by Jordan Bruner, USA) and Give me a chance (directors Gina Torstensen (Norway) and Nacho Rodriguez (Spain).
The prize for children was presented to the film Unbearable Heat (director Richard Phelan, Great Britain).
Fest Ancha 2014
The seventh festival, focused on the animation of German-speaking countries, was held from June 18 to 22, 2014 in Zilina. As part of the festival, the Slovak premiere of “Early Animation in Soviet Ukraine” and the retrospective screening of “Czechoslovak Tales for Children” of 1960-1970 were held. Three new awards were added: Anča Slovak Award (prize for the best Slovak animated film created in the last two years), Di Award (the awarded film goes directly to Slovak cinemas, where it is shown as a short film-screen saver preceding the screening of any major movie film company Film Europe) and Anča Kids Award (prize for the best animated film for children). Fest Anča Game Days also became an innovation (introducing a wide audience to Slovak and Czech video games and uniting Slovak and Czech developers by holding joint lectures and informal meetings), the category Fest Ancha New Talents and the Web Series series also appeared. Special guests of the festival were the Swiss creator of animated films Georges Schwitzgebel and the German creator of films, video projects and installations Max Huttler.

Fest Ancha 2015
The eighth festival dedicated to Estonian animated films was held from June 24 to 28, 2015 in Zilina. An innovation was the program “Alternative Container Stage ”, which sounded “slightly” noisy, and sometimes noise or experimental music. For some time, Zhilina turned into a big animated holiday: two Brazilian artists of VZ Sauve traveled through the streets in triplets and revived at random the selected buildings and premises with their projections . Special guests of the festival were: the world-famous Estonian amateur duet Priit and Olga Pärn and the Irish director and two-time Oscar nominee for the best full-length animated film - Tomm Moore.
