Georges Cedes ( fr. George Cœdès ; August 10, 1886, Paris - October 02, 1969) - French archaeologist and historian, specialist in Southeast Asia.

Biography
His father worked as a bank employee. He studied at the Condorcet Lyceum and at the EPHE , the latter graduated in 1911, where he studied Sanskrit.
Since 1914, professor. Since 1918, the director of the National Library of Siam (Thailand). Then he moved to Bangkok. In 1927-9 Secretary General of the Royal Institute of Siam. Then from 1929 in Hanoi, where he worked until 1946 as director of the French Institute of the Far East . After he returned to France, where he again took up a professorship, he also worked as a curator of the Guimet Museum .
Member of the British Academy (1952).
Officer of the Legion of Honor (France, 1952). Commander of the Order of the White Elephant (Thailand, 1919).
Has been married since 1935.
