Biography

Born in Austin , Texas , in the family of a politician and businessman, George Tyler Haswell and Caroline Dalton [4] . She was educated in Washington . She made her debut on the stage at an early age, in March 1885 [4] . She has performed at the Lafayette Square Theater in Washington and at the Augustin Daley Theater in New York . Her work on stage includes performances on the stages of Baltimore , Boston , Buffalo , Toronto , as well as in many other places. In particular, she appeared on Broadway in 1898 and 1932 [4] [5] .

On June 2, 1895, she married actor George Fousett in Bridgeport , Connecticut . In 1901, she formed the Percy Haswell Repertory Theater, which was an integral part of the George Fawsett Repertory Theater [6] . In 1925, she staged the play “The Complex” on Broadway. She also starred in two silent films in 1919 and in 1929 [7] .

She died in Nantucket , Massachusetts [7] , raising her daughter alone by that time [8] .

Journalist Fulton Orsler describing his attraction to her, he wrote the following: “She has expressive white hair, blue eyes, and a gentle voice. She grew up in Austin, Texas, but it seemed to me that she was from a completely different world. She was my first Rosalinda, and Juliet and Ophelia and a dozen other heroines, inviolable and worldly ” [6] .
