Mo ( Chinese 末 , pinyin : mò , literally: “in his late years”) is the role of a stupid old man in a Chinese opera [1] . In modern theater, it merged with the role of sheng [2] .
Amplitude mo dates back to the Yuan Dynasty , in which all roles in the theater were divided into male mo, female tribute , the roles of villain or warrior ching and jester chow . Over time, a separate independent male role was formed in Sheng, and as a result, by the time the Peking Opera was born (the end of the 18th century), there were five main roles, but most of them became secondary, and subsequently completely merged with Sheng [3] [2] .
Mo at the time of the birth of the Beijing opera is already characteristic of male supporting roles, older than Laosheng; however, the social situation is usually low. The roles are comic, the old people, who are portrayed by actors in the roles of mo, have become stupid by age [1] .
