Richard Carmichael ( born Richard Carmichael ; February 1779 , Dublin , June 8, 1849 , Sutton ) is an Irish surgeon and venereologist .

Biography
Born on Bishop Street in Dublin , the son of Hugh Carmichael, a lawyer, and Sarah Rogers from County Meath . He studied surgery at the nearby College of Surgery [4] .
He founded the Irish Medical Association in 1840 and was its president until his death [5] .
Proceedings
He wrote: “An Experience on Sexually Transmitted Diseases Detected with Syphilis” ( Eng. “An Essay on venereal diseases which have been confounded with syphilis etc.” , 1814–1815 ), “An Experience on Sexually Transmitted Diseases and the Correct and Incorrect Use of Mercury for Their treatment "( Eng. " An Essay on venereal diseases and the uses and abuses of mercury " , 1814 - 1825 ) and some other works.
