Shelf History

The 762th Fighter Aviation Regiment was renamed on January 1, 1942 from the 630th Fighter Regiment, conducting combat operations as part of the aviation group of Colonel Gil of the Air Force of the 56th Army of the Southern Front. On January 11, 1942, Colonel Gil’s aviation group was renamed the 74th mixed air division of the Air Force of the 56th Army of the Southern Front. The regiment participated in the Barvenkovo-Lozovo operation .

On April 25, the division was disbanded, and the regiment was transferred to the Air Force of the 57th Army of the Southern Front. After the formation of the 217th Fighter Aviation Division in the 4th Air Army of the Southern Front, the regiment became part of it from May 20, 1942 and was in its composition until May 31, 1942, when it was disbanded. One regiment squadron was commissioned on May 31, 1942 to equip the 762th mixed aviation regiment.

The regiment was part of the army from January 1, 1942 to June 1, 1942 [1] .
