605th Fighter Aviation Regiment

The 605th Fighter Aviation Regiment ( 605th IAP ) is a military unit of the Air Force ( Air Force ) of the Red Army Armed Forces, which took part in the hostilities of the Great Patriotic War .

The 605th Fighter Aviation Regiment began to be formed on October 15, 1941, with the 6th reserve fighter regiment of the Oryol Military District ( Rasskazovo town, Tambov Region) simultaneously with the same 604th IAP on I-5 airplanes. He graduated from the formation on November 15 and was transferred to the Training Center of the IA Air Force KA, where he stayed until November 27, 1941 [1] .

Entered combat operations on November 28, 1941, conducting combat operations as part of the 60th mixed air division of the Western Front air forces on I-5 aircraft. After withdrawal from the front to the rear from January 15, 1942, the regiment arrived in the Volga Military District in Kuznetsk in the 13th reserve fighter aviation regiment , where it was precompiled and proceeded to retrain for the Yak-1 fighters. From February 27, he completed retraining at the Yak-1 at the 3rd Reserve Aviation Brigade of the Volga Military District at the Razboyshchina airfield until May 16, 1942 [1] .

After the retraining was completed, the regiment was incorporated into the air force of the 57th Army of the Southern Front and from May 18 led combat work on the Yak-1 aircraft. From June 2, 1942, it was withdrawn from the front and, by June 11, 1942, arrived in the 16th reserve fighter aviation regiment of the Privolzhsky Military District (settlement of Balanda, Saratov region), where it remained until its disbandment on August 29, 1942 [1] .
