Belonged to the monastic order of the Barefoot Carmelites . In monasticism is known under the name Frantisek. In 1936-1939 he was a priest in the church of St. Theresa in Vilna .
In 1939, Fr. Andrei (Frantisek) Gdovsky was appointed provincial vicar for the monasteries in Vilna and Madel .
The Righteous Among the Nations
During the Great Patriotic War, Andrei Gdovsky issued a certificate of baptism to a Jewish girl, Louise Emeisait. Based on this evidence, Louise was able to obtain "Aryan" documents and get a typist at a gathering point for German soldiers in Vilna . Thus, Louise was able to avoid the fate of other Jews of Vilnius, whom the Nazis destroyed in the Ponar forests near Vilna during the Holocaust .
