History
The title of the Duke de Monbazone is a duchy and peerage .
The Duchy of Monbazone is an ancient seigneurium in Touraine , which was elevated to the county and then to the duchy in the 16th century .
Montbazon, a city ten kilometers from Tours, originally held the title of barony and was elevated to the county in favor of Louis VI de Rogan-Gemene by a letter from Henry II in February 1557 .
Henry III, in a letter of May 1588 , elevated the county of Monbazon and the baronies of Saint-Mor-de-Touraine , Nouatre and La-E to a duchy of peer under the name of Monbazon, in favor of Louis VII Rogan-Gemene, 2 count de Montbazon, who died childless.
Henry IV , in letters in March 1594 , erected new lands in favor of Hercule de Rogan, Count de Rochefort, brother of Louis.
