So Phim ( Eng. So Phim ; 1925 - June 3, 1978 ) - Cambodian revolutionary and field commander of the Khmer Rouge . Permanent member of the Communist Party of Kampuchea (1960-1978), head of the Eastern zone of Cambodia (Democratic Kampuchea). Shortly after the start of the Vietnam invasion in 1978, he was charged with high treason and executed by order of Pol Pot.

Biography
Born around 1925 in eastern Cambodia. His military career began in the French army; at the end of 1940 he joined the Khmer Issarak movement.
In August 1951, he became one of the five founders of the People's Republic of China, which in 1966 was renamed the Communist Party of Kampuchea.
In 1960, he was elected to the Central Committee of the Party of Workers of Kampuchea, three years later he became its permanent member. He occupied the fourth or fifth place in the party ladder. With Pkhim was the only member of the Central Committee, who had a peasant origin.
After the victory of the Khmer Rouge, he became general and commander of the Eastern military zone. He took part in the aggression against Vietnam.
In May 1978, he and Heng Samrin launched an armed uprising against the Pol Pot regime, which was quickly and brutally crushed. Heng Samrin managed to escape to Vietnam, and So Phim, being surrounded by half-swept troops, committed suicide.
His wife and children were captured and killed.
After the execution of So Phim, Nuon Chea became the head of the zone.
