Theari Chan Seng (American Theary Chan Seng ) - American human rights defender of Cambodian origin, lawyer, former executive director of the Center for Social Development and chairman of the Center for Civic Education in Cambodia (CIVICUS). Early years
Teari was born in 1971 in Phnom Penh. Her childhood was in the years of the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia. At the age of seven years, she lost both parents, many of her relatives also died during the genocide. After the overthrow of the regime in 1979, she and her brother moved to the USA. In 1995 she became involved in human rights activities. In 2000 she graduated from law at the University of Michigan. From this point on, he is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Returned to Cambodia in 2004.
