History
Good neighborly relations have developed between the countries. Tensions arose in the 1980s over Argentina's inability to pay for the natural gas supplied by Bolivia. In November 1988, an agreement was reached between the governments of the two countries to pay debts, which at the beginning of 1989 amounted to more than $ 100 million. For Bolivia, revenue from the sale of natural gas is crucial for the development of the economy ; Argentina’s cessation of the purchase of Bolivian natural gas in 1992 nearly proved catastrophic [2] .
In 2012, the governments of Argentina and Bolivia concluded a new agreement on the supply of natural gas valid until 2017 [3] .
