Career

Club career

Born in the Baghdad region of Karrad, there he began to play football. In 2007, he moved to England and joined the youth team of Tottenham Hotspur , but in 2010 left the team [1] .

In October 2010, he signed a short-term contract with Brighton and Hove Albion [2] , and subsequently renewed the contract several times. The debut match in the new team was played on May 7, 2011 against “ Notts County ” [3] , this match remained the only player in the league in the “Brighton” team. Also on the account of the midfielder one match in the FA Cup , January 7, 2012 against Wrexham [4] .

In July 2012, he was leased for six months to Luton Town [5] , who spoke at the Conference . Kasim regularly played for the team in both pre-season matches and the championship, the official debut took place on August 11, 2012 in the match against Gateshead [6] [7] . In February 2013, he was leased for a month to Macclesfield Town [8] , who also spoke at the Conference , during which time he played 5 matches. After returning to Brighton, the contract with the player was terminated in May 2013 [9] .

In the summer of 2013, he signed a three-year contract with Swindon Town and became a player in the club’s core team. On August 30, 2014, in a match against Coventry City , he entered the field with a captain's blindfold (due to the fact that the game was disqualified by disqualified Nathan Thompson) and became the first Iraqi footballer in history as a captain of an English professional club.

On July 4, 2017, he signed a two-year contract with Northampton Town [10] .

Team Career

In the first Iraqi national team he debuted on March 5, 2014 in the Asian Cup qualifying match against the Chinese national team [11] . The first goal was scored on November 17, 2014 in the Persian Gulf Cup game against the team of Oman [12] .

In January 2015, he took part in the final tournament of the Asian Cup and became his semi-finalist. The tournament took part in five matches and scored one goal - a winning goal against the Jordan national team in the group stage.
