Biography
Born in 1983 in Chirchik , Uzbekistan [3] .
In 1990 he moved to the city of Saki , Crimea. In Crimea, Vitaly at the age of 11 began to engage in fencing; the first coach was Andrei Fenogentov [3] . In 1997 he moved to study at the Republican Higher School of Physical Culture in Kiev , where he began to train with Leonid Emelyanovich Andreyuk.
In 2003, Vitaly Medvedev became the silver medalist of the European Championship among juniors, losing 15:14 Gauthier Grumier . In 2007, Vitaliy brings home a bronze medal from the category “A” tournament in Lisbon, and also becomes the champion of the World Universiade as part of the Ukrainian national epee team [6] .
In 2008, he takes part in the Beijing Olympic Games , where he takes 7th place in the team championship [7] . In 2009, Vitaly, as part of the national team, went to Belgrade for the next World Universiade , where he took 28th place in the individual and 3rd place in the team championship [8] . In the summer of that year he got married; wife, Irina - tennis coach. He graduated from the National University of Physical Education and Sports of Ukraine with a master 's degree in psychology [3] .
In February 2013, as part of the team of the Kiev School of Higher Sports Excellence, Vitaly Medvedev became the owner of the club European Fencing Cup (other team members - Anatoly Gerey , Evgeni Makienko and Evgeni Mirgorodsky); in the semi-finals of the tournament, it was Medvedev’s injection that brought the Ukrainian team a victory with a minimum score of 45:44 over the Rode club from French Aveyron [9] . In 2013, Medvedev also won the European Championship bronze medal (where he defeated two medalists in the individual championship in the third place match with the French team) [10] , and then the World Championship silver medal in a team with Bogdan Nikishin , Dmitry Karyuchenko and Anatoly Gerey [11] . In 2014, Medvedev won the title of champion of Ukraine in individual fencing, having defeated Bogdan Nikishin in the final [12] .
